Excessive WOB can lead to excessive wear on the drill bit and even sticking, while insufficient WOB can reduce drilling speed. Therefore, flexible adjustments are necessary based on rock hardness. For example, rotational speed can be increased for soft rock, while WOB may be required for hard rock. Furthermore, a stable supply of pump volume ensures that flushing fluid effectively removes cuttings and prevents blockage within the hole.

Drill bit maintenance and replacement timing are also crucial. The drill bit is the component that directly contacts the rock, and its wear directly affects drilling efficiency. Operators should regularly inspect the drill bit for wear and replace it promptly if diamond particles are loose or the matrix is excessively worn. Furthermore, before drilling, ensure that the drill bit and core barrel are securely connected to each other to prevent loosening that could cause core loss or equipment damage.

The selection and circulation management of the flushing fluid are also crucial. The flushing fluid not only cools the drill bit and lubricates the hole wall, but also carries cuttings out of the hole. Choosing the appropriate flushing fluid type (such as water, mud, or polymer) based on the formation characteristics is crucial. For example, in loose formations, mud can enhance hole wall stability, while in hard rock, water can suffice. Furthermore, ensuring smooth circulation of the flushing fluid is crucial to prevent sedimentation that could lead to hole shrinkage or drill bit burial.

Operator experience and discipline are key to ensuring safe and efficient drilling. Skilled operators can predict in-hole conditions based on details such as drill rig vibration and pump pressure fluctuations, allowing them to adjust parameters or take countermeasures promptly. Furthermore, strictly adhering to safety procedures, such as regularly inspecting equipment fasteners and avoiding overloading, can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

Mastering these core drilling rig operation skills can not only improve drilling efficiency, but also extend the life of the equipment and provide more reliable technical support for geological exploration and resource development.
