Raw Material Preparation and Pretreatment

Mud material production begins with raw material screening. The main raw materials include bentonite, calcium carbonate, polymer additives, and water. Bentonite is dried, crushed, and sieved to ensure a standard particle fineness; calcium carbonate is ground to a specific mesh size. Additives such as fluid loss additives and viscosity enhancers are premixed according to the formula ratio to ensure stability in subsequent reactions.

Mixing and Reaction Phase

After raw material pretreatment, the core mixing phase begins. Bentonite and water are mixed in a high-speed mixer to form a uniform suspension. The polymer additive is then added, and the reaction proceeds under specific temperature and pH conditions. During this stage, the mixing speed and time must be strictly controlled to ensure that the material meets the required dispersion and viscosity standards. Some high-end products also require high-temperature aging to enhance their heat and salt resistance.

Dehydration and Forming

The slurry material after the reaction needs to be dehydrated. Common methods include filter press dehydration or natural sedimentation to reduce the moisture content and increase the solids content. The forming stage is divided into two forms, dry powder and liquid, depending on the product type. Dry powder products are further dehydrated and granulated in a spray dryer; liquid products are adjusted for viscosity in a homogenizer before being directly packaged.

Quality Testing and Packaging

Finished products undergo rigorous testing, including tests for viscosity, fluid loss, pH, and other indicators. Qualified products are packaged according to specifications: dry powders are packaged in moisture-proof ton bags or cans, while liquids are packaged in plastic drums or IBC drums. Some export products also require English technical instructions and MSDS safety data sheets to meet the requirements of international customers.

Optimizing the slurry material production process not only affects product quality but also directly impacts the efficiency of downstream applications. As environmental regulations become stricter, the development of low-solids, biodegradable slurry materials has become a new industry trend. Companies that master core production technologies will gain a more advantageous position in the global market.
